An amazing boyfriend, son, grandson, brother and friend—Matthew embodies the gentle, kind and selfless qualities of Superman—while personifying the spiritual, knowledgeable and comforting nature of his grandfather Jose. A unique man to the core: writer, storyteller and animator, Matthew continues to inspire those closest to him by pursuing a degree in Animation. The pride, associated with pursuing his dream, emanates for the world to see. I am proud of all your accomplishments Matthew, and although this has been a difficult year, I know that your grandfather is proud of the man you’ve become. He will protect and guide you always as he watches over you and your family from Heaven. I think Jonathan Kent said it best: “When it comes down to it, none of us are gonna be around forever. Now, we can’t dwell on that. I think the trick is to just live your life to its fullest, make sure you spend as much time as you possibly can with the people you love.” I know that you spent quality time with your grandfather, and he would give you the same advice as Jonathan gave to Clark. I am so grateful for your grandfather’s influence on you, and I know that you will remain positive about the future because you continue to be in his presence through prayer and faith. We can continue to live life to its fullest together. This year, I celebrate the birthday of my amazing boyfriend, my very own Superman! Happy Birthday Matthew, and know that you are loved—always!
